Diving with a buddy is the normal , but there are reasons for an experienced diver to develop self-reliance and independence while diving. Learning to dive without a partner can make you a better diver in most situations. An experienced diver can dive independently without a buddy with proper training, equipment, and the right attitude to accept the risks involved. Self-sufficient diving is an adventure sport that is not for everyone, but it has its uses.
