Search and recovery is a useful skill as well as a fun challenge. It's the type of activity where you can learn the fundamentals in a couple of days but not fully master all the nuances even after hundreds of dives. Finding anchor at 15m depth with limited visibility is very hard.  All of this has been accomplished by recreational divers - search and recovery artists, if you will - who have risen to the challenges that these endeavours
